Feng Xue is an Architect and Founder of Atelier Feng Xue (AFX), a design–research studio investigating how built environments shape everyday experience.

Our Philosophy

Architecture is a bridge between people and place — a medium through which human identity resonates with its surroundings. At Atelier Feng Xue, we practise architecture as both a design discipline and a social act, shaping spaces that support everyday rituals, collective life, and long-term wellbeing.

We work across a broad range of architectural typologies, approaching each project with the same commitment to clarity, spatial richness, and human experience. Place-making, to us, is about shaping environments with character and meaning — where layered experiences unfold in quietly poetic ways.

Our Research

Alongside our architectural practice, AFX leads research into new housing models through the Intermediate Housing Model (IHM) — our current core area of investigation.

The IHM framework reimagines the spaces of living — from private dwellings to shared thresholds and neighbourhood settings — as a way to nurture belonging, adaptability, and wellbeing. By bridging design, research, and public dialogue, we seek to develop housing alternatives that move beyond isolated dwellings and fully communal living.

Working with researchers, architects, and community partners, we test these ideas across diverse contexts and housing types — building a design agenda that connects innovation with lived experience.
